Here's a new one. Rex Sole done in photoshop for NOAA FishWatch.gov. I love this gig. It's simply amazing how different each fish species is. One thing I tried is to make the skin look like it is translucent. Like there is something going on under the layers of skin. What I did was add a layer that was low res, blew it up so it looked out of focus and then I worked on layers that were above that. So that out of focus texture gives the sense of depth with in the layers of the skin. Fun stuff.
350MoCo
This is a poster I just finished for 350MoCo. 350MoCo is working to solve the climate crisis by getting Montgomery County, MD (where I live) to divest from dirty fossil fuel investments. Peter Murtha is the man! http://www.350moco.org/

Little acrylic paintings
Here are some little acrylic paintings I did on wood. Mostly birds. Doing the black line was the toughest part. You need good eyes and a steady hand, something as I am getting older in not improving.
Plein Air
Here's are some more oil paintings I did while up in Maine. The weather was so great. I love painting outdoors. These are around 8"x5".
IPA
Done for Draft Magazine, the article was titled "Nectar of the Gods." I went with the angelic approach and I'm happy with the way it came out. I like the way the pint is so far in the foreground. Also, IPA is a bitter type of beer and hoppy, so I made sure to add the hops.
Crossfit
When I got the call from Men's Fitness to do an illo about Crossfit and the craze it has become, I was super jazzed. I love Crossfit and I've been doing it now for about 3 years. Really awesome. Below is the sketch.
Here's the final. Really happy with the way it turned out. Always a pleasure working with those guys at Men's Fitness.
Sick Earth
Here's a sketch I did for the global warming piece for Nat Geo. My daughter added the "I WANT TREES!"
Here's the final. They changed the size, so I had to rethink it a bit. Because the piece was so much more horizontal, it wasn't working with the body.
Great Plein Air Painter
His name is Marc Dalessio. Great painter. Love his greens in this one piece. Done in oil. http://www.marcdalessio.com/
Yellowtail (Seriola rivoliana)
Here's a newish illustration I did for FishWatch.gov. I've done around 100 fish illustrations for NOAA. This illo I did in Photoshop. Lots of layers. Click here to view more: http://www.fishwatch.gov/
Book Cover
This is really cool cover. Love the limited pallet. Designed by Nathan Burton
T-shirt design
Here's a mock-up of a T-shirt design I did for Crossfit Inner Loop, in Silver Spring, MD.
Plein Air
This is a painting I did when I was up in Maine, near Camden. It was so nice painting outside. I really love that. This was done in oils on a masonite board.
icons
Here are some icons I created for a friend. Had a lot of fun with these.
